Staufen Dynasty & the Upper Middle Rhine Valley - a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Conrad of Hohenstaufen, 1st Hereditary Count Palatine of the Rhine (Died 1195) - was a son of Friedrich II von Staufen, Duke of Swabia (Died 1147) and a half-brother of Frederick I "Barbarossa", Holy Roman Emperor (Died 1190).
Stahleck Castle was a residence of the Counts Palatine of the Rhine from about 1140.
