El Retiro Park. Count Ramon IV was the founder of Poblet
Monastery.
Paseo de las Estatuas is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site
- Retiro Park and Paseo del Prado.

The Monastery of Santa María de Ripoll (Monasterio de Santa
María de Ripoll) was founded in 888 by Guifre/Wilfred “the
Hairy”, Count of Barcelona, Urgell, Cerdanya, Conflent &
Girona (d.898).
Count Guifre/Wilfred and several other Counts of Barcelona were
buried in the Monastery.
The Portal of Monastery of Santa María de Ripoll - is on the
tentative list for submission as a UNESCO World Heritage Site
candidate.

Ramon I "el Viejo" "Berenguer" Count of Barcelona, Girona, and
Osona (d.1076) and his wife Almodis de la Marche (d.1071),
together with the Bishop, started construction of the early
Romanesque Cathedral c.1046.
Count Ramon I and his wife Almodis are buried in Barcelona
Cathedral.

The initial wooden castle was built in the 10th Century and
Alphonse II, Count of Provence, Millau & Razès (d.1209)
[House of Barcelona] transformed the castle into a stone castle.

Bellver Castle (Castillo de Bellver) was built by Jaime II, King
of Mallorca, Count of Roussillon & Cerdagne/Cerdaña,
Seigneur of Montpellier, Baron of Ompelas (d.1311) - a son of
Jaime I "el Conquistador/Conqueror", King of Aragon and Iolanda
of Hungary.
The Castle’s name comes from an old Catalan word meaning
"beautiful view". The Castle is one of the few Castles in Europe
with a circular floor plan. Today (2025) the Castle houses the
Palma History Museum.
