Alfred "the Great" acceded as King of Wessex in 871 - and acceded as King of England in c.886.

Edgar “the Peaceful” King of England’s Coronation took place on Whit Sunday in 973 at Bath Abbey (14 years after he became King) and his consort, Elfrida, was the first consort to be crowned Queen of England.
The Coronation was the first to be recorded in some detail - and many of the symbolic aspects of the Coronation continue to be used over 1,000 years later.
The Coronation is depicted in a stained glass window inside the North facing side of the Abbey.

Bath Abbey is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site - City of Bath.

Over 100 statues adorn the façade. The first 11 of the 12 statues left of center above the main entrance arch - include portrayals of 9 generations of Kings of England starting from the 11th Century - starting from left as follows : #1. King William I (d.1087), #3. King Henry I (d.1135) (son of #1), #4. King Stephen (d.1154) (grandson of #1), #5. King Henry II (d.1189) (grandson of #3) #7. King John (d.1216) (son of #5), #8. King Henry III (d.1272) (son of #7), #9. King Edward I (d.1307) (son of #8), #10. King Edward II (d.1327) (son of #9), #11. King Edward III (d.1377) (son of #10). The next statue is of King Edward III’s Grandson #12. King Richard II (d.1471).
The 12 statues right of center at the same level - are portrayals of Anglo Saxon Kings - including the following - starting from left : #V. King Egbert I (d.839), #VI. King Ethelwulf (d.855) (son of #V), #IX. King Alfred the Great (d.899) (son of #VI), #X. King Edgar the Peaceful (d.975) (great-grandson of #IX). The last statue on that row is of King Edward the Confessor (d.1066) - grandson of #X - and also 1st Cousin Once Removed of #1 King William I. In addition, #1’s wife Matilda of Flanders (d.1083) [married c.1050-1053] was a 5th Great-Granddaughter of #IX. King Alfred the Great. As a result, all descendants of #1 were Descendants of Early Anglo Saxon Kings of England.
Lichfield Cathedral was completed c.1340.

The first 11 of the 15 statues include portrayals of 9 generations of Kings of England starting from the 11th Century - starting from left as follows :

#1 - King William I (d.1087)
#3 - King Henry I (d.1135) (son of #1)
#4 - King Stephen (d.1154) (grandson of #1)
#5 - King Henry II (d.1189) (grandson of #3)
#7 - King John (d.1216) (son of #5)
#8 - King Henry III (d.1272) (son of #7)
#9 - King Edward I (d.1307) (son of #8)
#10 - King Edward II (d.1327) (son of #9)
#11 - King Edward III (d.1377) (son of #10).

The statues continue through to King Edward III’s 2nd Great-Grandson #15 - King Henry VI (d.1471). York Minster was completed and consecrated in 1472.
Notes: In 1998 a statue of Emperor Constantine the Great (d.337) was erected near the south entrance - and in 2022 a statue of Queen Elizabeth II (d.2022) was added to the main west façade.

Lincoln Cathedral was consecrated in 1072 and completed in 1311.

Most Kings & some Queens of England from 1066 to 1272 - including : William I "the Conqueror" (d1087) [4th level, 11th from left]; Henry I (d.1135) [4th level, 6th from left] and his wife Maude (Matilda) "the Good" [4th level, 8th from left] (daughter of Malcolm "Canmore", King of Scotland); Empress Matilda (d.1167) [4th level, 15th from left]; John (d.1216) Magna Carta [4th level, 2nd from left]; Henry III (d.1272) [4th level, 1st from left].

Westminster Abbey has been the coronation site for most of the English and British monarchs - since 1066 - when the coronations took place for both Harold II, King of England (d.1066) and William I "the Conqueror", King of England (d.1087).

Westminster Abbey has also been the burial location - since the 11th Century - for many of the former English and British monarchs - up to King George II (d.1760). Since then members of the Royal Family have been buried at Windsor Castle - either in St. George's Chapel or at Frogmore.

Westminster Abbey is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site - Palace of Westminster and Westminster Abbey including Saint Margaret's Church.

St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle has been the burial location - since the 15th Century - for many of the former English and British monarchs.

Plaster cast copies of the of the Fontevraud Abbey tomb effigies of Henry II, King of England (d.1189) and his wife Eleanor of Aquitaine (d.1204) and their daughter-in-law Isabella of Angouleme (d.1246) (wife of John, King of England) can be seen at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, England.

Note: After 1066 most other Kings & Queens of England and later of the U.K. were either buried at Westminster Abbey, London or St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.

Fontevraud Abbey is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site - The Loire Valley between Sully-sur-Loire and Chalonnes.

Statues on the South Façade of Saint George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle

Statues include Henry III, King of England (1207-1272) - built the Chapel of Saint Edward the Confessor in the early 13th Century (later rededicated as Saint George’s Chapel) - and Edward III, King of England (1312-1377) - founded the Most Noble Order of the Garter in 1348.

Eleanor Crosses with Statues of Eleanor of Castile - Charing Cross, London; Northampton; and Waltham Cross

Twelve Eleanor Crosses with Statues of Eleanor of Castile (d.1290) [wife of Edward I, King of England] were erected along her funeral procession route from Harby to Westminster Abbey. Two of the three surviving Eleanor Crosses are at Northampton and Waltham Cross - plus a replica Eleanor Cross at Charing Cross Station/Hotel - the original was nearby where the Equestrian Statue of King Charles I now (2025) stands by Trafalgar Square.

Tomb Effigies of Eleanor of Castile - Westminster Abbey, London and Lincoln Cathedral, Lincoln

There are two Tomb Effigies of Eleanor of Castile (d.1290) [wife of Edward I, King of England] - one adorning her main tomb at Westminster Abbey and the other on the tomb containing her viscera at Lincoln Cathedral. In addition, there is a plaster cast copy at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
