(ii) In the American Genealogist "TAG" articles (i) 63: 193-206 - October 1988 & (ii) 65: 87-88 - April 1990 by R. C. Anderson - questions are raised as to whether the John Drake who arrived in New England in about 1630 (a descendant of the Drake family of Ashe, England) was the same person as the John Drake who settled in Windsor, Conn. in about 1640. In other words the question has been raised whether there was one or two John Drakes in early New England in the period 1630 to 1640.

Check the book "Morse genealogy: comprising the descendants of Samuel, Anthony, William, and Joseph Morse and John Moss: being a revision of the Memorial of the Morses" (1903).
Some information regarding Joseph Morse:
(i) Excerpts from "Memorial of the Morses; Containing the History of Seven Persons of the Name, who Settled in America in the Seventeenth Century. With a Catalogue of Ten Thousand of their Descendants, ..." (1850) by Rev. A. Morse
"According to tradition, the evidence of early intercourse, and [convention] of names given to their children, Joseph of Ipswich [and] Samuel, sen., of Dedham were brothers. Their father's <name> was probably John, of the West of England."
(ii) Excerpts from the Morse Society website (2008):
"Are the separate Morse branches in North American related?
Of the five New England progenitors, Anthony and William were brothers, and there is a possibility that Joseph and Samuel were either half-brothers or distant cousins (see MS Newsletter No. 107).
In August 2003 the Morse Society started its DNA Project, testing established members of each line to see if they share a common ancestor. Preliminary test results, reported in October 2004, have confirmed that (a) Anthony and William were indeed brothers, and (b) the Samuel/Joseph clan and the Anthony/William clan are totally separate haplogroups - i.e. they do not share a common ancestor within the time span of recorded history."
(iii) A "New England Historical and Genealogical Register" article "Genealogical Research in England - Morse" (1927) identifies Joseph Morse Sr., of Ipswich, Mass. as a possible brother of Samuel Morse, of Dedham, Mass. - but more likely as a first cousin of Samuel.
(iv) A memorial monument (located in the Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield, Massachusetts) - bears the following inscription - center inscription:
"To the Memory of Seven PURITANS Who Emigrated from ENGLAND To AMERICA in 1635-9"
